B15NC powers but no sound
#1
Hi,

New here and a new Ampeg owner. I recently acquired a 1966 B-15N and it's been stored for 20 years, is in great shape but needs a bit of TLC.

The fuse housing was broken off, so I replaced that, but when I powered it up I got no sound. I get resistance from the speaker when testing it but I wonder if there's something I can easily do before I take it to my Amp guy.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I believe the article 1966 b15n had an ext amp jack on the back. You could try plugging into that jack and see if you get any sound.
If you plug your bass in that jack it will be very quiet. But if you use an external preamp or mixer first, you should get good volume. Alternately you could use an adaptor to plug your phone in.

If you get no sound when you plug into that jack, plug your bass into the input of th amp, and then plug the ext amp jack into a mixer or the input of another amp. Check for sound coming out of the jack.
