Ultra-low bass boost rocker buzz??
#1
Quote:The bass boost rocker switch (the most right-hand one) on my '74 Ampeg V4B has to be set on full bass boost or my amp has an irritating buzz coming out of it.

That kind of limits my tone selection. Before this condition appeared I usually preferred to have that switch off because it makes the bass tone way too "Bass-Boomy" for my taste. I prefer to use the dials and my electric bass to get the tone I want.

Don't get me wrong, I want a real bass, not a guitar sound, but not that low.

Does it matter if you use channel 1 or 2, or which bass you use? Have you tried adjusting the hum balance pot?

The ultra low on the V4 is definitely a big much, but keep in mind that it may simply be filtering out the buzz you hear.

Another thing you could do is to check if it still makes the buzz with no instruments plugged in.
